LAGOS, Nigeria — Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sparked fresh debate over financial accountability after releasing what he described as a summary of the finances of the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, the non-governmental organisation (NGO) under his management. The disclosure followed weeks of criticism and questions from some social media users regarding the management of donations made to the initiative. In response, VDM shared what appeared to be an online financial dashboard showing the NGO’s total revenue, deployed funds and current account balance.
